The inner workings of a violin shop often appear mysterious to many musicians. Actually, there is no mystery involved. What is really involved is precise, exacting work that takes patience and skill, combined with experience in order to succeed. To this end, I believe it is important to further hone my skills as a craftsman through continued education.

My desire is to bring the highest standards to repair and restoration work on all instruments - violin through double-bass. While working for the well known bow maker John Norwood Lee, I grew immensely in my knowledge of all aspects of the bow from rehairing bows, to restoration and making. In addition to my experiences in Chicago, I have also continued studying bow restoration techniques and bow making in the French style with renowned maker and restorer Rodney Mohr. These experienced luthiers, and many others in the field, have realized the importance of passing on their knowledge to assure the future of luthiery.

I am also a working musician, so I am acutely aware of the need for a well adjusted instrument, allowing you to maximize your potential as a musician. As a luthier, I know what is necessary to bring an instrument to its fullest potential.

I offer a range of instruments and bows from newly made to pre-owned, modern to antique, all waiting for their next care taker. Please feel free to call or email if you have questions about any bows or instruments.
